Electronics/Metal Pick-Up

Please review the below to make sure your item qualifies for pick up.

Is the item one of the following: tires, construction debris, bricks, concrete, stones, pianos, dirt, fluorescent light bulbs, sheetrock, insulation, tile, rechargeable batteries, car batteries, propane tanks that are not empty, and any containers full or empty that held potentially hazardous materials, such as pesticides, glues or solvents.

These items are never picked up.

Residents may check with their local service station to see if they will take old tires for disposal for a fee.
Hazardous waste, including fluorescent lights bulbs, are disposed of through the Westchester County Household Material Recovery Facility at 15 Woods Road, Valhalla. Please call their helpline at 914-813-5425 to schedule an appointment.

Is the item one of the following: Wood furniture, furniture that is mostly wood or mostly plastic, wood pieces*, mattresses, box springs, small plastic appliances, speakers, carpeting*, Styrofoam, toys, mirrors, windows, ceramics, crystal, drinking glasses, light bulbs, and single-use batteries.

These can be put out with regular trash without appointments

Wood and carpeting needs to be cut and bundled in 4 ft. lengths, tied or taped and each bundle cannot weigh more than 40 lbs.
Paint cans: If there is still liquid inside the cans, add cat litter until the paint is absorbed, then put out with lids off for regular trash collection.

Metal pieces (predominantly metal or all metal)

Picked up by appointment each Friday. The deadline to arrange for pick up is the Thursday before by 5:00 PM.
Examples of metal items: Lawnmowers, outdoor furniture that is predominantly metal, microwaves, pipes, motors, sheet metal, large appliances, auto parts, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, cookware, wire hangers, and scrap metal (nails, screws, tools)

Electronics

Picked up by appointment the first Wednesday of each month. The deadline to arrange for pick up is the Tuesday before by 5:00 PM.
Computer monitors, computer towers, radios, scanners, routers, TVs, video game systems, cables, cameras, chargers, stereos, printers, FAX machines, scanners, shredders, DVD players, VCRs, keyboards, hard drives, telephones, and space heaters
Cell phones are not considered electronic devices. Residents are encouraged to contact their carriers for recycling information.
